Message from the President The 32nd South African Masters National Track and Field Championships took place on the 25th and 26th April 2008 with more than three hundred participants. This large contingent, in a non-world championship year, is a good indication of the health of our sports code coupled by seventeen superior athletes that received their National Colours at our annual awards ceremony at the end of the Championships. Several SA records were broken and their ratification is in progress. Kwêla, the magazine program on Kyknet, covered our Championships bringing a new dimension to masters athletics in South Africa. The 2009 National Masters Championships have been awarded to Gauteng North with provisional agreements in place for Cape Town in 2010 and Durban in 2011. We intend on expanding on our provincial championships next season with additional meetings and increasing our participation in senior and junior league meetings so as to enable us to participate at least twice a month at competition level during our season. Please remain in contact with your provincial masters body for further details in this regard.
